Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How quickly will my pets settle in my new home?
Most pets are very adaptable and will soon settle into their new home when surrounded by people and objects they are familiar with.
What happens if my pet becomes ill?
Brand new from March 2010, we are very very pleased to have http://www.nuvet.co.uk/ as our veterinary partner. We could dance around, cheer and explain why we think they are so good. But their Website gives you the idea. As they say, in their own words.....

We are committed to providing the very highest
standards of surgical and medical treatment at all times.

With this in mind, we use the latest equipment, drugs and techniques where they are appropriate, but equally we may also call on the tried and tested old favourites where they work best for your pet.

At nuVet we are one of only a handful of UK practices to perform keyhole surgery. This method of operating is less painful and traumatic for our patients as well as giving faster recovery times and fewer stitches, so everyone is happy.

We could also show you lots of pictures of shiny equipment and fancy ‘things’ but we think you’re maybe not that interested in those. If you are, then by all means
drop in for a snoop round!

Check out their website. It is important that you feel confident about the vets that DEFRA appoints to ensure all is well just as much as it is that you feel confident we are looking after your precious ones in loco parentis. Your pet will be looked after from a 360 degree perspective

Do you charge extra for heating?
Not at all – the health and welfare of your pet is paramount. As can be seen from our itemised quotation and contract there are no hidden extras.
What quality of food will my pet receive?
LAQK only serve top quality recognised brand name foods. All dogs and cats are fed morning and evening, with the exception of puppies, kittens and older animals who may require extra attention.

We also cater for any special dietary requirements. Please notify us in advance.
Should I visit my pet?
At LAQK we strongly encourage you to maintain the bond with your pet, however we appreciate this is not always possible and our dedicated team will ensure that your pet receives love and attention. Our visiting times are 2pm to 4pm Monday to Friday, 12pm to 4pm Saturday. Closed Sunday and Bank Holidays.
Should I send beds or bedding?
We do provide bedding but if your pet has a special blanket which may help make his/her trip more comfortable by all means put this in the traveling box with him/her
How do I get an Import Licence and how long will it take?
LAQK will facilitate obtaining a licence and boarding documents for you. Most customers know well in advance of relocation and we appreciate as much notice as possible.

We have been able to arrange the required documentation to be obtained within a week, with the help of DEFRA, however this cannot be guaranteed.
